This program will serve to bring together hands-on HANA technical experts in the marketplace to more easily facilitate the sharing of knowledge, lessons learned, success stories, cross-training, content and best practices. Helping SAP to start the program are SAP HANA experts, Vijay Vijayasankar from IBM, John Appleby from Bluefin Solutions, Harald Reiter from Deloitte Consulting and Jon Reed an independent analyst, blogger and specialist in SAP career planning and skills development.

Gaming company, Big Point is using SAP HANA to analyze their terabytes of customer data. Through fast analysis, Big Point can provide instant offers to its players that best match the player’s gaming history. Big Point majority of revenues comes from gamers purchasing optional virtual items, by suggesting offers during the gaming experience, Big Point increases their revenues.

You might only think of SAP HANA as a platform to churn out data to help companies increase revenues, but did you think that SAP HANA could help treat cancer patients?
Mitsui Knowledge Industry (MKI) is an ICT company in Japan that is using HANA to help health care providers to analyze genetic information faster. With SAP HANA, MKI shortened genome analysis time from several days to minutes. There goal is to deliver cancer treatments to patients the same day.
Shortening the time to extract such data will also dramatically reduce costs, making it more affordable for patients to obtain the treatments they need.
Prior to selecting SAP HANA MKI conducted a feasibility test to test the performance for a particular process for improvement. SAP HANA improved the performance time by 400,000 times. They are also combing R and Hadoop with SAP HANA to create one single real-time data platform.
