customer app

I was checking out mobile apps SAP has to offer and came across a new app that gives the outside world easy access to great SAP customer stories. The app is called “Customer Journey”.

I found the app simple and easy to navigate.  The home page rotates every few seconds with a new customer story.  Users can also find customer stories via an index, where they can sort them or see them by date.  For a more refined search, users can filter  the stories by SAP solution, line of business or industry sector.

There is not a lack of information once you find a customer you want to learn more about.  Each story provides a comprehensive view of the customer and how they are working with SAP to run better.  I particularly like the “journey ahead” section, where the story concludes on what is next for the customer.

Every time you launch the Customer Journey app you will be notified of new customer stories.  The app is easy to use and very low maintenance!

Here is a short video/demo about the app.

This app can be downloaded on iTunes.

If you are interested in other SAP apps, download this app that navigates all of SAP apps available on iTunes.  Or just go to the SAP App store.

Happy Apping!

SAP and MolecularHealth, a leader in clinico-molecular informatics have come together to provide cancer patients personalized treatment choices based on the analysis of terabytes of information in real-time.

Oncologist have a challenge of selecting from a host of approved drugs and clinical trials poses, with SAP HANA the Oncologist can bring a dramatic acceleration to their decision-making process. The MolecularHealth offering, supported by the platform, is planned to be capable of translating genomic sequences of both tumor and normal cells — more than 3 billion data points — into potential treatment strategies. Physicians are planned to be able to select a treatment strategy for each patient from hundreds of approved drugs and clinical trials — a process that today involves significant time and complexity. Genomic sequencing data amounts to approximately 2 terabytes of information per patient. Printed on paper, this amount of data would fill a medium-sized elementary school library.

The solution is planned to be deployable in the cloud, on premise or in a hybrid model, as well as to be made available via mobile devices.

With our market-leading innovations and our investments in research and healthcare IT solutions, we have the ability to support the fight against cancer together with MolecularHealth,” said Jim Hagemann Snabe, co-CEO, SAP AG. “We partner and drive co-innovation with companies that are dedicated to making a difference. Our investment in technologies and platforms such as SAP HANA, cloud and enterprise mobility enables us and our partners to deliver on our vision and commitment to make the world run better and to improve people’s lives.”

SAP HANA is also helping Mitsui Knowledge Industry (MKI) in Japan to shortened genome analysis time from several days to minutes. There goal is to deliver cancer treatments to patients the same day.

More information is available in the press release.

In August, 23 North American partners submitted 43 mobile apps into the SAP Mobile Apps Partner Challenge.  Today, SAP announced three finalist that were scored based on the apps user experience, functionality, innovation, customer appeal and business value.  The three finalists and apps they developed are:

  • ExpertIG’s myOrders: A mobile app that allows companies to provide their own customers with the ability to track shipments and evaluate the progress of each stage in the sales-order cycle. Users can download the app and track their orders securely, receive notifications and search order status from their mobile devices.
  • KloudData’s mobile Medical Record (mMR) and mobile Field Service Engineer (mFSE): mMR is an app that mobilizes electronic patient records from any current hospital information system. It connects to back-end systems for clinical information, including hospital information and imaging systems (PACS), and displays the patient’s data in a clear and easy-to-read format. mFSE is an app designed to mobilize the entire end-to-end activities for field service engineers working in the medical device industry.
  • Linear Logic’s Customer Demand Manager (CDM): A mobile app for sales professionals that connects in real time to the SAP Supply Chain Management (SCM) application. It allows users to share forecast information with their customers on their mobile devices and input accurate forecast data back into SAP SCM. This can be done in a customer’s office, over a lunch meeting or anywhere convenient.

During SAP TechED 2012 this week on Wednesday, October 17 the three finalists will participate in the “Mobile Jumpstart” event where the audience will decide the winner.

SAP Afaria mobile device management solution NOW supports iOS 6 key new features and devices. In anticipation of iPhone 5, SAP will meet customer demand by offering best-in-industry mobile device management and security on iOS 6.

With more and more enterprises embracing bring your own device (BYOD) policies, SAP Afaria removes the complexity of managing and securing all critical enterprise data and mobile apps on any device.

The new iOS 6 features will include an “Authorized Mode,” allowing enterprises to effectively pre-load apps via mobile device management (MDM). Once loaded on the iOS device, enterprise IT staff will be able to remotely instruct the device to enable/disable a particular app based upon user policy compliance or permissions.

Additionally, SAP Afaria will support iOS 6 “Guided Access” via Authorized Mode. This innovation will help retail, field service and education users lock and load an iOS app by triple clicking the iOS device home button. Once Guided Access is enabled the device will run only the current application and will be passcode protected from other functions. Guided Access will also restrict touch input on certain areas of the screen.

“SAP is the unmatched leader in mobilizing the enterprise, and SAP Afaria is the market leader in mobile device management solutions,” said Sanjay Poonen, president, Mobile Division, SAP. “Our heterogeneous position supports any device and embraces the market’s newest mobile innovations. As such, SAP is excited to immediately support Apple’s new iOS 6. From iPhone 5 to Android and soon to be released Windows Phone 8 devices, enterprises implementing SAP Afaria are future proofing their mobile investment with the most comprehensive and open mobile security and management software in the industry.”

A Webinar on best practices for secure and scalable apps on multiple mobile operating systems, including iOS 6, is scheduled for October 17, 2012. To register, visit: “Scaling Your Mobile Enterprise for Next-Generation Operating Platforms.”

This week Keith Bowles the director of business intelligence from Peabody Energy gave a presentation to over 500 attendees during an SAP virtual event focused on business analytics.

Keith spent the majority of his time showing the audience their BI portal that you could call Peabody’s source of truth.  Really cool stuff!

BI at Peabody has been successful due to executive adoption, which was accomplished by providing reports and dashboards on mobile devices.  Easy access to data has helped executives make decisions anywhere. Having the ability to tap into the status of Peabody’s business, executives can always align with the organizational objectives.

If you don’t have time to watch the entire presentation below is a summary of the topics Keith addressed

0:00-4:35 — Keith sets the scene with what SAP BI solutions Peabody is using (FP4, BI4, Explorer and much, much more).  He also provided very compelling reasons why Peabody needed a BI solution. And he finished with their overall BI platform map, which included the connection of data to mobile devices

4:35 — Not even five minutes into the presentation Keith shows the audience Peabody’s BI portal. One key element of this portal is for Peabody to use this to push BI self-service out to the organization. All employees in various functions can use BI to generate reports

13:45 — Keith spends a few minutes showing the value SAP BI widgets have given executives to better see reports directly on their desktops. Keith’s team set-up the widgets based on what are the most important reports executives need regularly

16:07 — In a day Peabody was running SAP mobile analytics. With someone else it would have taken them five weeks!!

22:43 — Keith leaves the demos to share a long list of benefits Peabody has experienced with their BI project

23:08 — If you are thinking about a BI platform Keith gives advice on how to successfully run a BI project
